Q. I am having a problem hemming over heavy seams. Any suggestions?
A. Firstly, check that you are using the correct size needle. The only needle to use is size 11 HAX1SP. The best way to blind hem over a heavy seam is to stop hemming when you come to the seam and turn the hand wheel by hand over the seam. Once you have passed the seam you can continue to hem as per usual. -

Q. What needles are suitable to use in my Blind Hemmer?
A. The only needle that should be used in the Baby Lock Blind Hemmer is the HAX1SP size 11. This is because the machine is timed to this system and this size needle. There is no need for a heavier needle when working with heavier fabrics. -

Q. I have a blind hemming foot for my sewing machine. Does the Blind Hemmer work the same way?
A. The Blind Hemmer works completely differently. Sewing machines and overlockers have vertical needles whereas the Blind Hemmer has a horizontal needle. This is why the Blind Hemmer creates a true blind hem as it only picks up the back of the fabric being hemmed stitching with a chain stitch. -

Q. What threads should I be using in my Blind Hemmer?
A. You can use Bobbin Fill or Serafil in your Blind Hemmer for regular hemming. If you want to colour match your thread, try using a Polyester thread as it comes in a wide range of colours. -

Q. How do I achieve a perfect hem on chiffon?
A. As with all lightweight fabrics, it is advisable to activate the skip stitch function by turning the dial on the right hand side of the machine to skip. Another suggestion is to fold the hem up twice. -
